The Situation

Based on its belief that sustainable impact businesses are great for communities, Winsusu has created a community-powered cooperative entrepreneurship platform that allows its users to build future income, wealth and legacy. Winsusu’s inclusive model uses utility in payments as a tool for financial inclusion in addressing social and upward mobility for the underserved and underbanked communities.

In order to fulfill this mission of providing wellbeing, and economic prosperity of communities into the future, OnePipe was engaged as a partner to proffer solutions to the issue of financial exclusion and even more value added incentives that allows Winsusu subscribers to save, invest, transfer funds, pay bills and have access to loans based on consistent usage of the platform.

The OnePipe Solution

The OnePipe solution involved the deployment of our carefully curated suite of APIs productized as Grassroots Banking . The USSD expression of Grassroots banking was implemented by Winsusu and the rollout was quite impressive

The launch/go-to-market included workshops for the Winsusu Ambassadors who championed the adoption of Grassroots banking by the members. The Winsusu Ambassadors and users were able to dial the Custom Winsusu USSD code to have the incentive-driven accounts assigned to them in a matter of seconds. Similarly, these accounts could be allocated through a conversational user interface that translates all the user’s desired transactional actions into commands the bot has been perfectly trained to understand.

The incentives made available on the accounts have also empowered Winsusu ambassadors to make money by offering secondary financial services to their customers:

  • Funds transfer services that are now truly digital and cheaper. Further deepening the data trail used to underwrite credit for the customers.
  • Airtime and data purchase, such that the Ambassadors keep a portion of the spread from the discount
  • And many more.

OnePipe worked with Winsusu ambassadors on the go-to-market and activation activities to ensure the success of the Winsusu Benefits Account programme.

The Outcome

The Winsusu Benefits Account has proven to be a viable tool for financial inclusion and wealth creation among the underserved and indigents. Adopters are daily being financially included and have also commenced generating digital financial footprints which will further grant them access to facilities such as loans and insurance.
