The Situation
The Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA), re-opened the registration of Lagos State residents in 2020 with the audacious goal of registering 10 million residents over an 18-month period. As part of the exercise, the Agency came up with an arrangement where residents that want a premium and fast track treatment can pre-register online and then have their biometric capture at designated partner premium centres, who charge a fee for the special service and split the revenue with the Agency.
The challenge was: The Agency required a special payment experience on the portal that makes it easy for the individual premium centres to collect payments directly and split the income with the Agency, but done in such a way that it’s all integrated within the same portal even though each centre was meant to be fully independent.
The OnePipe Solution
With Paystack’s APIs available on OnePipe under a unified standard, OnePipe’s Simple Payment, was a perfect fit for the LASRRA premium registration use case.
The LASRRA premium registration website was integrated with OnePipe.js, a module of Simple Payments, while each centre independently registered as a merchant with Paystack. Simple Payment’s ability to recognize multiple merchant accounts and route accordingly helped to complete the requirements specified by the agency such that each centre received their revenues and the portion due to the agency was split in realtime.
The extensive reporting available on Simple Payments also came in handy in offering full transparency to the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency.
